Looking for A Forever Loving Home! in Barren, Illinois For Sale

Hello!
I am actually not the owner of the dog I am posting. I Found him as a stray about a week ago. My husband and I are animal lovers and we couldn't just leave him there. Not only was he near a busy Road but it was over 100 degrees with heat index. Where we found him was only about two doors down from the Perry County Humane Society in DuQuoin so we drove over there to see if one of their dogs had escaped.
The volunteers at the shelter didn't recognize the dog so they scanned him for a microchip... He didn't have one. They could not take him because their hands are tied by the law. They can only take dogs through Perry County Animal Control. It was Saturday when we found him and animal control wouldn't be open till Monday. We drove around for a few hours knocking at people's doors asking them if they were missing a dog or if they recognized him. No one claimed him. So, since last Saturday he has been with me. I have posted flyers in an effort to find his owners but no one has claimed him.
My husband and I are not really in a position to keep him so if an owner doesn't step forward to claim him soon we will need to find him a new home. At this point, I would really like to avoid taking him to the shelter. I have gotten attached. who couldn't? He is very sweet and so cute! And a lovely brindle color (looks like a tiger). He seems to be quite young. Even though he is probably 45 lbs, he has the vitality and energy of a puppy. I am venturing to guess he is a year or maybe a little younger. He loves to play fetch and have his belly rubbed. He is also potty and crate trained. He has not had one accident in my house. He also does well with my 7 lbs dogs and seems to be great with any dog. I don''t know how he is with cats, but i would be surprised if he wasn't ok with them. And all he wants is to be around people!
